Joe Biden Says He Supports the Second Amendment — Then Why Does He Want Beto on His Gun Control Team?

During former Vice President Joe Biden's heated exchange over the issue of gun control with a blue collar worker on Tuesday, Biden said the worker was "full of sh*t" in assuming he wants to confiscate guns because he is in complete support of the Second Amendment.

Putting aside Biden's long support of gun control laws that would run afoul of the Second Amendment, you don't need to look very far to see how Biden is no friend to the right to keep and bear arms.

The day before Super Tuesday, Biden was more than happy to get the endorsement of former Democratic presidential rival Beto O'Rourke in Texas. After O'Rourke gave his support to Biden, Biden told the crowd that it would not be the last they have seen of the former Texas congressman.

"I'm gonna guarantee you this is not the last you've seen of this guy," Biden said. "You're going to take care of the gun problem with me. You're gonna be the one who leads this effort. I'm counting on you. I'm counting on you. We need you badly, the state needs you, the country needs you."

O'Rourke made the issue of gun control the top priority to his then-failing presidential campaign after a gunman targeted a Walmart in his hometown of El Paso, Texas, where he killed twenty-two people. The gunman had written a manifesto where he expressed hatred for Hispanics and chose the location because of the large number of Hispanics in El Paso.

"Hell yes, we're going to take your AR-15, your AK-47," O'Rourke declared during a following presidential debate. He then made it clear police would have to take them away in cases where gun owners refused to hand them in.

This is quite the opposite of supporting the Second Amendment and it's telling that Biden would want O'Rourke to head up gun control if he were to win the election this year. This is why highlighting O'Rourke's extreme policies was important, even after it was clear he would not get very far in the primary: Democrats secretly agree with it.

Keep in mind this is coming from the same side that demonizes the entirety of police in the country as being over militarized racists who are drunk on power. And now they want to use said police force to go door to door to take away lawfully acquired weapons?

If Biden wants to help put gun owners at ease, then he would have O'Rourke pack his things and stay in El Paso. Even if he were to do that, the damage has already been done.
