Less than three weeks ago, almost a dozen moderate Democrats went on the record as refusing to endorse Nancy Pelosi for speaker. Add one more to that list: Rep.

Scott Murphy, who is facing a steep re-election challenge in New York. Here's what he told the Times-Union editorial board.

We’ll see. We’ll see what happens when the election’s over and we’ll look at the leadership. I have not been involved in a leadership election or that process...I think that I haven’t spent any time working on that issue. I’m really focused on getting through this election season and figuring out where we go from there.

Translation: If I affirm my support for the Speaker, I'm dead in the water.
