Something You Shouldn't Do While Campaigning For Political Office: Insult Fans Of Your State's Beloved Sports Team

Oh wait.... that's what Martha Coakley just did.

In response to a Boston Globe's reporter's inquiry, Coakley said that she would prefer to get high-level endorsements rather than shake hands with rank-and-file Massachusetts voters at Fenway Park. The Globe reporter,

David Filpov, had suggested to Coakley that such an approach might be too passive. Coakley responded incredulously:
“As opposed to standing outside Fenway Park? In the cold? Shaking hands?’’ she fires back, in an apparent reference to a Brown online video of him doing just that. “This is a special election.  And I know that I have the support of Kim Driscoll. And I now know the members of the [Salem] School Committee, who know far more people than I could ever meet.’’
If Coakley thinks Kim Driscoll is more important to Bostonians than the Red Sox, she should probably just leave Massachusetts.

To top it off, the late Sen. Edward Kennedy adored the team, throwing it's opening pitch last season before he passed away.

Coakley's scandals and mis-quotes get better by the minute.
