Rumor Has It Chelsea Clinton May Run for Congress in New York

Thought the Clinton political dynasty ended Tuesday night? Think again.

Sources to the New York Post are saying the Clintons are grooming Chelsea, daughter of Hillary and Bill, to run for Congress in New York’s 17th district. The district is currently represented by 79-year-old Rep. Nita Lowey. Lowey has been serving in office for nearly 30 years and mumblings of her impending retirement are growing.

Lowey’s district covers Chappaqua, an area where the Bill and Hillary have conveniently purchased a 1.16 million dollar home intended for Chelsea and her family. Despite living in Manhattan, Chelsea could easily move to the million-dollar home waiting for her and designate it her primary residence if she decides to run.

The anonymous source went on to say..

“While it is true the Clintons need some time to regroup after Hillary’s crushing loss, they will not give up. Chelsea would be the next extension of the Clinton brand. In the past few years, she has taken a very visible role in the Clinton Foundation and on the campaign trail. While politics isn’t the life Hillary wanted for Chelsea, she chose to go on the campaign trail for her mother and has turned out to be very poised, articulate and comfortable with the visibility.

“There has been a lot of speculation within New York Democratic circles about Lowey’s retirement and Chelsea running for the seat. There is a belief that Chappaqua is a logical place for Chelsea to run, because it would be straightforward for her to raise money and build a powerful base.”

It seems the Clintons don’t want to leave the public eye just yet.
