Loretta Sanchez Not Giving Up Her Paycheck

Yesterday Sen. Joe Manchin vowed not to accept a salary during a shutdown, and encouraged other members of Congress to either give their paychecks back to the Treasury Department or donate them to charity.

But one Representative is planning to keep her paycheck. Loretta Sanchez told MSNBC that she lives paycheck to paycheck and can't afford to go without right now.

“It's very difficult for me to say, ‘Hey, I can give up my paycheck,’ because the reality is, I have financial obligations that I have to meet on a month-to-month basis that doesn't make it possible for me.”

Update: John Boehner won't be accepting a salary during a shutdown, either. He is calling on others to do the same.
