Deep Thoughts: MSNBC Segment Ponders if Tea Partiers are "Delusional Addicts"

Don't let Martin Bashir's snappy, cosmopolitan accent fool you.  He's a hack of the first order:

In this mind-numbingly idiotic segment's defense, at least the "terrorist" smear was off the table -- although the possibility of a future "clash" was mentioned.  So which would you rather be: Delusionally "addicted" to curbing government excess, or a regular viewer of Martin Bashir's program?  Now ask yourself how Chris Matthews could possibly one-up this nonsense.  Answer: With half-assed, Civil War "secessionist" blather:

As I listened to Matthews and Fineman prattle on about the nasty, disloyal Right, and how conservatives rejected Obama from day one, I couldn't help but recall the Not My President, "stolen" election, war-criminal days of 2000-2008.  Fortunately, I quickly banished those memories forever.  Because if soothsayer Chris Matthews says today's reflexive opposition to Obama is an unprecedented phenomenon in modern American politics, and that it's unique to the Right-wing, it must be true.

I recommend watching it twice, the first time to take it in and the second time to focus on Peele’s criticism as an almost preternaturally perfect case of projection. Yet somehow this guy musters the stones to say this:

Well, the way I think about it is they are pursuing goals that can’t be achieved. It’s sort of like a child who has some kind of fantasy, and they keep asking you to give them things to acquire that, but it’s impossible to arrive at the goal that they want. The idyllic paths that they are pursuing probably never existed and certainly not something we can reach right now.
