Okay, the president didn't adopt quite such a hectoring, paternal tone yesterday, but he sure did seem grumpy during his remarks to students at the University of Wisconsin at Madison:

Out: Hope, change, and the hallelujah chorus.

In: Lecturing your (dissipating?) base about their "irresponsible" and "inexcusable" apathetic "lethargy" heading into the midterms. When MSNBC is reporting about the Left's "frosty" reception to The One's super-appealing new blend of bitterness and angry condescension, you know the magic is gone.
