Rasmussen Reports' Daily Presidential Tracking Poll today puts Romney ahead of President Obama 49% to 47% among nationwide voters.

Important to note, according to Rasmussen: approximately one-third of the data was collected before Romney's strong debate performance this past Wednesday. It looks like "[t]he margin of sampling error" for Rasmussen's daily tracking polls, however, falls at +/- 3 percentage points.

Still, the poll is good news for the GOP challenger.

"Today is the first time Romney has been ahead by even a single point since mid-September," Rasmussen states.

This news follows the positive trend of polling numbers for Romney in key swing states that Guy chronicled yesterday.

The poll shows the Romney ticket does have more work to do when it come to the youth vote, as the daily tracking numbers have the president ahead "by double digits among those under 40." This dynamic could get more interesting after next week's vice presidential debate, since Romney's running mate Paul Ryan is the youngest figure on either ticket and has tried to improve government entitlement programs for a younger generation of voters as well as seniors.
