Arrest Made in Second Planned Attack on Ft. Hood

ABC News is reporting that a U.S. serviceman has been arrested after "he allegedly admitted he was planning an attack on the U.S. Army base at Fort Hood, Texas."

The article says the man, Private First Class Naser Jason Abdo, made purchases at the same gun store Nadal Hasan is thought to have used in the Ft. Hood shootings.

Abdo is a Muslim who, according to the article, told ABC News in 2010,"Any Muslim who knows his religion or maybe takes into account what his religion says can find out very clearly why he should not participate in the U.S. military."

It was the people at the gun store, according to the report, who alerted police because they thought Abdo's behaviour and the amount of his purchase seemed off.

Oh, and Abdo is also in trouble for child pornography: "A spokesperson for the Killeen Police Department, which has Abdo in custody, said the AWOL soldier from Fort Campbell was arrested for an outstanding warrant for child pornography."

It's ironic that it was the gun shop -- the entities which the Obama administration is trying to pin the blame for ATF's mishandling of Operation Fast and Furious that saw thousands of U.S. weapons cross the border into Mexico and also end up costing American lives--  was the entity that helped alert police and actually stop violence. Perhaps the Obama administration should think twice before trying to pass the blame on to members of society who saw something and said something.
