Follow-up: Gun Owners' Identity Kept Safe in Illinois

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn recently signed legislation protecting the identities of legal gun owners in the state of Illinois, ending a standoff between the Illinois attorney general and the state police over whether the information would be released.

The case had gone to an Illinois court, but state legislators decided to pass a law keeping the identities of Firearm Owners Identification cards and the date of expiration of those cards from being released through a Freedom of Information Act request.  Quinn signed the law, effectively nullifying the court case. It was an interesting move for the usually anti-Second Amendment governor, who had previously earned an F grade from the NRA.
