Joe Biden's campaign advisor Symone Sanders joined Fox News anchor Dana Perino for a wide ranging chat on Wednesday. While Biden has been avoiding the campaign trail because of coronavirus concerns, his team has produced a formidable virtual campaign, according to Sanders.
One topic Sanders did not want to talk about was Michael Flynn. The DOJ recently dropped criminal charges against the former national security adviser after it was revealed that the FBI was scheming to get him to lie to them about his Russian contacts. Susan Rice called for the release of the transcript between Flynn and former Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak, and Perino wanted Sanders's opinion.
"The reality is we are having this conversation because Donald Trump reintroduced this into the Twitter stream if you will, as a distraction," Sanders alleged.
A distraction from what exactly? From his bungling of the coronavirus pandemic and his falling poll numbers apparently.
"This is just a distraction—another one of these conspiracy theories," she continued. "Vice President Biden was not involved in any criminal investigation of Flynn. And this is just malarkey, as we like to say.”
A fair number of Americans would respectfully disagree with Sanders and note that the FBI targeting and unmasking of Flynn was a big deal. As Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) put it, if it can happen to a decorated general, it can happen to anyone. Paul added that now is the time for Biden to "come out of hibernation" and answer some questions about the Flynn debacle, considering that the former VP's name was on the list of people who sought to unmask him.

As the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, Biden should be compelled to answer questions about this seeming abuse of power.
Sanders was just as cagey when asked about the Tara Reade sexual assault allegations against Biden.
"What she is alleging did not happen," Sanders said of the Reade accusation, encouraging the press to vet the accuser's story.
"Vice President Biden said it didn't happen," Sanders said. "I am standing with Vice President Biden."
But, she added, Reade or anyone else has "the right to come forward to speak their peace."
Symone Sanders and spin are synonymous. Something I learned in New Hampshire.
