President Trump is getting swift bipartisan pushback for a tweet he sent directing four freshman progressive lawmakers to "go back" to their home countries since all they seem to want to do is bash America. Those include Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ayanna Pressley (MA), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who was born in Somalia.
Ocasio-Cortez was among those who demanded the president apologize for his "racist" message. She was joined by Republicans like William Hurd, who agreed Trump's tweet was "racist and xenophobic," and "inaccurate."
Trump did the opposite during his fiery remarks in the Rose Garden on Monday. He doubled down.
"If you're not happy in the U.S., you can leave," he said.
With that, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is asking her colleagues to support a resolution of disapproval for Trump's comments.
NEW: Speaker Pelosi announces a forthcoming resolution condemning President Trump's comments:
— NBC Politics (@NBCPolitics) July 15, 2019
"The House cannot allow the President’s characterization of immigrants to our country to stand. Our Republican colleagues must join us in condemning the President’s xenophobic tweets."
In his Monday remarks, Trump said the Democrats are going to have a hard time in the 2020 election because Americans will not stand for their anti-American, anti-Israel agenda. He was most fed up with Rep. Omar, who, he said, has praised Al Qaeda and minimized the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.

On Sunday, Pelosi concluded that Trump's plan to "make America Great Again" has always been about "making America white again."
