Maxine Waters Now Going After...Schumer and Pelosi

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) is so proud of her controversial remarks last weekend when she basically invited people to harass Trump supporters that she is shutting down members of her own party. Democratic leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi (rightfully) both spoke out against Waters's call for people to confront Trump supporters in the streets.

"I strongly disagree with those who advocate harassing folks if they don't agree with you," Schumer said last week.

"That's not right and that's not American," he added.

Pelosi shared similar sentiments in a statement.

On Joy Reid's MSNBC show, Waters defended her comments, sharing her belief that Trump "does not deserve" to be president of the United States. She was "simply standing up to him." Waters then accused the top Democrats of missing the point and simply looking out for their own jobs.

“You know, I was surprised at Chuck Schumer,” Waters said. “I’ve not quite seen that done before, but one of the things I recognize, being an elected official, is in the final analysis, you know, leadership like Chuck Schumer’s will do anything that they think is necessary to protect their leadership.”

Schumer and Pelosi had a point, though. In her now infamous directive, Waters instructed her supporters to "turn on" and "absolutely harass" White House officials at restaurants, gas stations, etc. That's exactly what one restaurant owner did in Lexington, Virginia. When White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders walked into Red Hen restaurant for a meal, she was promptly asked to leave and followed by protesters. Based on Waters's speech, she wants to see more of these disgraceful scenes.
