Trump Releases Scathing Statement Against Bannon

On Wednesday morning, we read some juicy excerpts from Michael Wolff's new book, "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House" featuring former White House Chief Strategist Stephen Bannon. Bannon, now back at Breitbart News, sounded off on the infamous meeting between Donald Trump, Jr. and Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya at Trump Tower in July 2016.

Trump Jr.'s meeting with the Russian lawyer at Trump Tower was "treasonous"and "unpatriotic," Bannon told Wolff, before speaking his mind about Trump's supposedly foolish decision to fire FBI Director James Comey.

President Trump is hitting back at his old associate, telling him in no uncertain terms to butt out of his affairs.

"He's only in it for himself," Trump said in an official statement, adding that Bannon has "lost his mind."

While Bannon appeared close to Trump both during the campaign and in the early stages of his White House employment, he has been speaking out against multiple Trump family members since his departure. Last month, while campaigning for Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, he mocked Ivanka Trump for refusing to support him.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was just as incensed by Bannon's comments.

"This book is filled with false and misleading accounts from individuals who have no access or influence with the White House," she told the press. "Participating in a book that can only be described as trashy tabloid fiction exposes their sad desperate attempts at relevancy."

For what it's worth, former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci (10 days), weighed in on the feud, siding with President Trump. He pointed readers to his infamous, expletive-laced interview with The New Yorker over the summer, in which he shared his unflattering opinion of Bannon.
