Russian Official Mocks NBC Reporter's Questions About Trump-Putin Meetings

NBC correspondent Keir Simmons tried to ask Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about the rumored collusion between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign. The media flipped out this week over a second meeting between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G-20 summit that had been previously undisclosed.

Matt explained why the outrage was unfounded. It was a couples-only social dinner, for goodness sake, not a secret foreign policy meeting.

Yet, Simmons, like many reporters, have their orders to keep Russia in the news. He asked Lavrov repeatedly about the run-ins between Trump and Putin at the summit. Clearly fed up with the American media's obsession with Russian collusion, Lavrov amusingly dismissed the question.

"Well, maybe they went to the toilet together," Lavrov said. "That was a fourth time."

Simmons tried to keep a serious tone and pressed Lavrov again to answer the question.

"When you're brought by your parents to kindergarten, do you mix with people who are waiting in the same room to start going to a classroom?" Lavrov responded.

The leaders have to all gather in the same room before the summit starts, so of course there is a chance Trump and Putin could have bumped into one another, he explained.

Although the Trump campaign would love the media to move on from Russian collusion, they have unfortunately given them plenty to keep the story alive. Just in the past two weeks, it was revealed that Donald Trump Jr. met with a Russian lawyer who he supposedly believed had dirt on Hillary Clinton.

She didn't, but the optics are not good.

Meanwhile, special counsel Robert Mueller just expanded his investigation into Russian interference to include a look into Trump's business dealings.
