Report: Obama Warned Trump Not to Hire Flynn During Oval Office Meeting

In President Obama's 90-minute meeting with his successor in November, he warned President-elect Trump that Michael Flynn was not suitable for a White House role, three former Obama administration officials have reportedly revealed to NBC News.

According to all three former officials, Obama warned Trump against hiring Flynn. The Obama administration fired Flynn in 2014 from his position as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, largely because of mismanagement and temperament issues.

Obama's warning pre-dated the concerns inside the government about Flynn's contacts with the Russian ambassador, one of the officials said. Obama passed along a general caution that he believed Flynn was not suitable for such a high level post, the official added.

Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser, resigned a month into the job after misleading Vice President Mike Pence about his communication with Russian officials.

Former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates will be testifying in front of the Senate Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism regarding the Russia investigation Monday and may drop a few bombshells on the Flynn controversy that could put the Trump White House in an unflattering light.

Trump tweeted suggestions for the committee Monday.
