Sessions Has Asked Remaining Obama-Appointed U.S. Attorneys to Resign

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has asked the remaining Obama-appointed U.S. attorneys - 46 in all - to hand in their resignation. As he notes in his request, this is standard procedure when a new administration takes office.

Conservatives are thrilled that he is "finally" taking this action.

Sessions has been facing a barrage of criticism for his answers during his January confirmation hearing. Critics say he misled the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding his meetings with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak. Sessions has claimed innocence, noting he answered truthfully that he never specifically talked to Russia about the 2016 campaign. That explanation is not sufficient for Democrats who are calling for him to resign, and the ACLU, which charges him with violating the code of conduct.

In any case, Sessions has recused himself from any investigation into Russia's supposed interference in our elections.
