Massachusetts Sheriff Suggests Inmates Can Help Build the Wall

Massachusetts' Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson has volunteered inmates to help build President-elect Donald Trump's wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. Not only would that speed construction, but Hodgson argued it would also be a positive experience for the prisoners.

“Aside from learning and perfecting construction skills, the symbolism of these inmates building a wall to prevent crime in communities around the country, and to preserve jobs and work opportunities for them and other Americans upon release, can be very powerful,” Hodgson said at his inaugural ceremony Wednesday night at Bristol Community College.

Hodgson has titled the initiative Project N.I.C.E., short for National Inmates' Community Endeavors.

The ACLU is not a fan of Hodgson's proposal, calling it "perverse."

We look forward to hearing what Trump thinks of the idea. In addition to building a wall, the Trump administration plans to increase the amount of border agents and boost aerial surveillance.
