Pelosi's Challenger Plans to Support Mattis: "He's Proven Himself Qualified"

Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) has proven once again why congressional Democrats have made a mistake in sticking with Nancy Pelosi and the status quo. Unlike Pelosi, Ryan has indicated he is willing to work with the incoming Republican administration.

Stubborn Democrats are scheming to upend President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet nominations, particularly the nomination of Gen. James Mattis for defense secretary. Mattis needs a waiver from Congress to serve because he is only three years retired from the military - the law requires seven years. Liberals like Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand have vowed to vote against the waiver.

In an interview with MSNBC on Thursday morning, Ryan distanced himself from such unhelpful obstinacy, noting that Gen. Mattis is absolutely qualified to serve as the new secretary of defense.

“In my opinion, I think he’s qualified to do the job,” Ryan said. “I don’t think it’s a good idea for us to from the very beginning say we’re going to oppose every single decision every time. The American people elected Donald Trump. As much as we don’t like that, I think we have to give him an opportunity.”

Ryan emphasized that Mattis has “proven himself qualified.”

Wow. It almost sounds like he’s in Congress to get things done.

Yet, instead of electing Ryan as Democratic Minority Leader, the party reelected big city liberal Nancy Pelosi, who just oversaw one of the Democrats' most devastating elections yet.

Ryan has admitted that Democrats need a makeover. Pelosi and Harry Reid, on the other hand, have put the blame on everyone but themselves.
