Republican PA Rep Sounds Off on 'Unacceptable' Delegate Process

*Follow Tuesday's primary results here at 8 p.m.*

Pennsylvania is one of five northeastern states voting in Tuesday's primaries. It stands out, however, thanks to its quirky delegate process. Only 17 of the state’s delegates are bound, which will be awarded to the candidate who wins the plurality of votes. The remaining 54 are unbound, meaning they can vote for whomever they want in Cleveland. Ted Cruz has been working especially hard to lock up some of these delegates, reports indicate.

In an interview with Fox News’ Neil Cavuto a few hours ahead of the Pennsylvania results, Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) weighed in on the confusing delegate process.

“It is totally unacceptable,” he said. To have unbound delegates is bad for the political process and makes things unnecessarily complicated, Kelly argued.

He then denounced any kind of delegate conspiring against the GOP frontrunner. It’s not supposed to be about “Never Trump,” he said. It’s about “Never Hillary.”

No Republican has carried Pennsylvania in a general election in decades. This year's crop of GOP candidates are determined to place the swing state back in red territory.
