Carson Says Trump May Not Be Only One Leaving Party If GOP Moves Forward With Brokered Convention

The Republican Party has not ruled out the possibility of a brokered convention in next year’s election should no candidate win a majority of delegates. They also reportedly discussed how to prevent a possible Trump nomination.

"Several longtime Republican power brokers argued that if the controversial billionaire storms through the primaries, the party’s establishment must lay the groundwork for a floor fight in which the GOP’s mainstream wing could coalesce around an alternative," The Post said.

Amid reports over these closed door meetings within the Republican leadership, presidential candidate Ben Carson said Trump may not be the only one to leave the GOP.

"If this was the beginning of a plan to subvert the will of the voters and replace it with the will of the political elite, I assure you Donald Trump will not be the only one leaving the party," Carson said in a statement.

Should the GOP hold a brokered convention, it would be the first in over 60 years.

We all know the GOP establishment is no fan of the controversial frontrunner, but would they go so far to alter the nomination process to prevent his victory? While Carson said he does not plan to run as an independent, he was very clear about now wanting to "be a part of corruption."
