Callista Gingrich, wife of former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, has just been confirmed to be the new U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See. Gingrich is a lifelong Catholic and sings in the choir at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington.

The Senate voted to confirm her with a vote of 70-23.

It was first reported that Mrs. Gingrich had been selected as the U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See back in May.
