Sen. Dianne Feinstein Running for Reelection

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) will run for reelection in 2018, she announced Monday morning on Twitter. Feinstein was first elected to the Senate in 1992. If elected, this will be her fifth term.

Feinstein said that she hopes to end gun violence, fix climate change, and improve access to healthcare.

Feinstein's reelection bid was quickly endorsed by fellow California Senator Kamala Harris.

While Feinstein has been reelected by fairly comfortable margins, many speculated that she would retire due to her age. Feinstein turned 84 on June 22 and will be 91 at the conclusion of her next term.

In the Senate, Feinstein is known for her consistently liberal views. She recently came under fire from both the left and the right for appearing to question a judicial nominee's ability to fairly judge due to her Catholicism, which sparked the rallying cry "the dogma lives loudly within me."
