McCain Pledges to Return to Congress 'Soon' After Diagnosis

On Wednesday evening, Sen. John McCain announced that he had been diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, following a procedure to remove a blood clot. In response to this devastating news, there was an immediate (bipartisan) outpouring of messages of support and prayers for his speedy and complete recovery.

Thursday, McCain posted his first tweet since his diagnosis--and in true McCain form, he was able to make light of what has to be an unimaginable situation, and promised to "be back soon" in Congress.

"I greatly appreciate the outpouring of support - unfortunately for my sparring partners in Congress, I'll be back soon, so stand-by!"

In the meantime, McCain will stay in Arizona to discuss his further treatment options.

Get well soon, Senator.
