Speaker of the House Paul Ryan easily won his primary election against challenger Paul Nehlen in Wisconsin's first district. Nehlen's candidacy had always been an extreme long shot, but he had garnered praise from Donald Trump and many prominent Trump supporters. Ryan defeated Nehlen by a comfortable double-digit margin.
