Decoding the MSM's Election Playbook

Earlier today, I wrote about how the press was working to turn public attention from Obama's foreign policy debacle, and redirect public indignation against Mitt Romney (http://townhall.com/tipsheet/carolplattliebau/2012/09/12/the_msms_romney_foreign_policy_gambit).

Here, the Examiner's Philip Klein elaborates on the point in a column titled "How the media turned Obama's foreign policy bungle into a Romney gaffe." (http://washingtonexaminer.com/how-the-media-turned-obamas-foreign-policy-bungle-into-a-romney-gaffe/article/2507779#.UFEWfUKhDHg)

Klein points out:

In 2004, John Kerry routinely attacked President Bush's handling of Iraq when things weren't going well in the country. And the media dutifully reported on Bush's foreign policy blunders in Iraq. But now, instead of scrutinizing Obama's handling of a foreign policy crisis, the media has decided that the real story in Egypt and Libya is a Mitt Romney gaffe.

And let's not hear any more about the inappropriateness of Romney's critique from partisans of a party with a Senate leader who declared the Iraq war lost while our soldiers were still on the battlefield and in harm's way. (http://www.youtube.com/embed/sYZEGot-xU4).

Everyone is catching on to the press' double-dealing on Obama's behalf, exemplified by the collusion between CBS and NPR  "reporters" before Romney's press conference (http://newsbusters.org/blogs/tim-graham/2012/09/12/video-cbs-and-npr-reporter-plot-insure-romneys-asked-if-he-regrets-obama).
