The Obama Apology Tour Continues

Less than a week after taking it upon himself to apologize to Europeans for his country's failure to "perfect itself," Barack Obama is back on the regrets trail again.

This time, he criticized America for treating minority groups poorly, according to a piece in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

"There's no doubt that when it comes to our treatment of Native Americans as well as other persons of color in this country, we've got some very sad and difficult things to account for," Obama told hundreds of attendees of UNITY '08, a convention of four minority journalism associations. . . .

"I personally would want to see our tragic history, or the tragic elements of our history, acknowledged," the Democratic presidential hopeful said.

"I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it's Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds."

What kind of deeds does he have in mind? Pay-outs? And when the words of condemnation of this country's past and people trip so easily off his tongue, does he even consider the lengths to which America has gone to try to rectify some of the admittedly sad, historical injustices that he -- and so much of the left -- find the only part of our past worth remembering?

What about the Civil War, for starters -- when white Americans fighting on the Union side gave up their lives for black people they didn't even know? What about the civil rights movement, when -- along with, yes, a lot of ugliness and bigotry -- many, many white Americans stood up with and marched with those seeking a more just country? What about the war on poverty and affirmative action? What about the efforts to offer Native Americans many highly lucrative, special opportunities like exclusive gambling rights not available to other citizens? Are those not "deeds"?

There is no country in the world that has gone to the lengths that this country has to redress injustices and offer equality of opportunity. There is no country in the world where bigotry is so discredited.

Again, Barack is showing that he has spent so much time in university faculty lounges that he has adopted its far-left, America-is-the-problem mentality.

Will Barack ever have a moment of true political courage, when he points out to his blame-America-first constituencies that, in fact, they're darned fortunate to be living here as opposed to anywhere else on the planet? It will never happen.
