From the AP:

Bartender Jose Valdez told the newspaper that he had refused to serve one of the suspects on Saturday night because the man had previously caused problems at the bar. Valdez said the man threw a cup at him and left, but returned later with another man shortly before closing time.

The gunfire created smoke inside the business, Valdez said, and he thought the building was "going to cave in."

ORIGINAL POST:

A shooting broke out at the Tequila KC Bar in Kansas City, Missouri early Sunday morning. Authorities say a total of nine people were shot, four of which succumbed to their injuries. The remaining five were taken to Truman Medical and University of Kansas Health System and are in stable condition.

TJ Tomasic of the Kansas City Police Department told ABC News the police received a call at 1:27 a.m. reporting the shooting.

The suspect, said to be a Hispanic male, walked into the bar and began shooting with a handgun. Casings from a handgun were found at the scene.

"Detectives are here and are looking at any surveillance," Tomasic told KSHB-TV. "This is definitely one of those that we’re going to do everything very slowly, very methodically and correctly."

Police are unsure if there was just one shooter. As of now, no suspect is in custody.

Agents from the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are on scene working with the Kansas City Police Department.
