BREAKING: University of North Carolina-Charlotte On Lockdown Following Reports Of An Active Shooter On Campus; UPDATE: 2 Dead, 4 Injured

The scene has been secured but Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and UNCC Police will continue going through various rooms on campus to let students and faculty know things are over.

WSOC-TV reports the student is a history major on campus.

Authorities believe he is the only one involved.

We know the condition of the four who were wounded: two have life-threatening injuries and two others have non-life threatening injuries. All four were rushed to Carolinas Medical Center.

The university's student alert system says law enforcement is sweeping the campus building by building and a lockdown remains in effect.

ORIGINAL POST:

The University of North Carolina-Charlotte remains on lockdown following reports of an active shooter on campus. Two people were killed and four others were wounded as a result of Tuesday's shooting, WBTV reported. The suspect has been taken into custody.

Around 5 p.m. EST UNCC sent out an alert to students, telling them to "Run, Hide, Fight" because of shots being reported.

Roughly an hour later another alert went out letting students know the lockdown remains in place.
