We know the condition of the four who were wounded: two have life-threatening injuries and two others have non-life threatening injuries. All four were rushed to Carolinas Medical Center.
The university's student alert system says law enforcement is sweeping the campus building by building and a lockdown remains in effect.

The University of North Carolina-Charlotte remains on lockdown following reports of an active shooter on campus. Two people were killed and four others were wounded as a result of Tuesday's shooting, WBTV reported. The suspect has been taken into custody.
Around 5 p.m. EST UNCC sent out an alert to students, telling them to "Run, Hide, Fight" because of shots being reported.
