Former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos is heading to prison to serve a two-week sentence, the Associated Press reported. Papadopoulos was ordered to show up to serve his time beginning on Monday, which ended his last-minute attempt to delay his sentence.
Papadopoulos was sentenced back in September for lying to the FBI about their probe into the Russian meddling into the 2016 presidential election. His sentence was put off until an appeals court ruled on the constitutionality behind the appoint of special council Robert Mueller.
U.S. District Court Judge Randolph Moss on Sunday said Papadopoulos waited too long to serve his sentence. It was also unlikely that an appellate court would rule against Mueller's appointment. So far, four separate judges have upheld his appointment.
Part of his plea agreement was contingent upon the the understanding that he could not appeal his sentencing. He did, however, file an appeal on Nov. 16, more than two months after the deadline to appeal his conviction and/or sentence. He then requested a delay in his sentencing.
“Papadopoulos waited until the eleventh hour to seek relief; indeed, he did not file his second motion — the stay request — until the last business day before he was scheduled to surrender to serve his sentence,” Moss’ order states. “He has only his own delay to blame.

Papadopoulos took to Twitter to explain his stance on the decision:
The truth will all be out. Not even a prison sentence can stop that momentum. Looking forward to testifying publicly shortly after. The wool isn’t going to be pulled over America’s eyes forever. Much love ????

The support from America has been overwhelming. You have all given me the strength to carry this boulder. Everyday the haters get shouted out by the patriots and the people who believe in justice and love America. FISA declassification will exonerate us all. Keep up the fight!
