Obama's Victory Speech

"If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dreams of our founders is still alive, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer," President-elect Barack Obama told nearly a million adoring fans in a midnight victory address.

Obama thanked his Republican opponent John McCain for his service to the nation and described him as a "brave and selfless leader" who has endured great pain and suffering for the nation.

"I will never forget who this victory belongs to, it belongs to you," Obama told his supporters who gathered in Chicago for his historic victory speech.

"There will be setbacks and false starts there will be many who won't agree with every policy I make as president...but I promise you I will always be honest with you," he vowed.
