The first question comes from Alan Schaffer who asks what is the fastest and most efficient way to bail ourselves out of this.

Obama attacks from the gate and says this is all the GOP's fault. He suggests a New Deal type project that "helps state and local governments set up road projects and bridge projects that will help people keep their jobs."

McCain hits energy reform by saying "We've got to stop spending $700 billion to countries that don't like us very much" says we must lower taxes, reduce spending and proposes a plan to empower Treasury to purchase bad home loan mortgages and renegotiate them at current values.
