Democratic Congressional Candidate Booed for Supporting ICE

The Washington Free Beacon reports that an Arizona Democratic congressional candidate was booed during a debate because she advocated supporting Immigration and Customs Enforcement as well as agreeing with Democratic leaders’ condemnation of fellow Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters’ vitriolic language in recent weeks.

A panel of Arizona 2nd congressional districts candidates was asked by the moderator to raise their hands if they “would have declared support for ICE agents without any increased oversight” had they been in office. Kirkpatrick raised her hand. The audience immediately erupted in a chorus of boos.

Then, the moderator asked if they would have supported “Democratic leadership in condemning Ms. Waters comment.” Again, Kirkpatrick raised her hand and the audience heckled the candidate.

Rep. Maxine Waters of California has made headlines in recent weeks for saying that the public should harass and confront Trump administration officials at gas stations, restaurants, and while shopping at department stores.

This year, the far left has propelled the Democratic establishment into disarray with calls to "abolish ICE." Some liberal politicians, such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), have embraced the mantra, but it is unclear what their exact plan is to shut down the agency.

As noted by the Free Beacon, Kirkpatrick served as Arizona’s 1st Congressional District congresswoman in three nonconsecutive terms between 2009 and 2016. Kirkpatrick lost a 2016 Senate election to the longtime Republican incumbent, John McCain. The video can be seen here.
