The New York Times is Selling a T-Shirt for the Low, Low Price of $300

Newbusters reports that The New York Times has teamed up with the Japanese brand, Sacai, to create a t-shirt featuring the paper's slogan dedicated to the "truth" that is being sold for $300.00.

The front of the $300 shirt, available for purchase at Saks Fifth Avenue, reads, "Truth. It's more important now than ever." The back of the shirt reprints more text from an early 2017 TV ad for the Times:

The truth is hard. The truth is hidden. The truth must be pursued. The truth is hard to hear. The truth is rarely simple. The truth is rarely obvious. The truth doesn't take sides. The truth is not red or blue. The truth is necessary. The truth can't be glossed over. The truth has no agenda. The truth is hard to accept. The truth pulls no punches. The truth is worth defending. The truth requires taking a stand. The truth is more important now than ever.

Graham points out that Washington Post reporter Adam Taylor jokingly said, "How journalism can regain the trust of the American people: teaming up with high-end Japanese clothing brands."  And Gizmodo writer Ryan Mandelbaum also noted, "If people are trying to break the journalists-are-elitist stereotype this isn't how to do it."

Sarcai is also selling a hooded sweatshirt version of the t-shirt for $420.00. The clothing comes in white and black.
