Trump Postpones 'Fake News' Awards

If you were anxiously awaiting President Trump’s “Fake News awards,” you’ll have to wait a bit longer.

Trump said on Sunday that he is pushing back his announcement by more than a week.

“The Fake News Awards, those going to the most corrupt & biased of the Mainstream Media, will be presented to the losers on Wednesday, January 17th, rather than this coming Monday,” he wrote on Twitter. “The interest in, and importance of, these awards is far greater than anyone could have anticipated!”

He originally announced last week that he planned to reveal the worst offenders Monday, a day after the Golden Globes, which could take center stage in the news cycle.

While the awards have been rescheduled, the recipients likely won’t change. Trump has repeatedly called out CNN, The New York Times, NBC, ABC, and The Washington Post throughout his time in politics for their dishonesty, bias, and use of unnamed sources. Some outlets have even received nicknames from the president, such as the Clinton News Network for CNN and The Failing New York Times.
