IRS Commissioner in the Hot Seat on Capitol Hill Over "Lost" Emails

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen will testify in front of the House Ways and Means Committee Friday morning as anger mounts over claims the tax agency "losing" emails belonging to seven high ranking officials, including former head of tax exempt organizations Lois Lerner, to an alleged computer crash.

According to reports, the IRS knew this "crash" happened a year ago but didn't disclose the issue to Congress until last Friday. Koskinen will be forced to field tough questions about the data loss, especially since he testified under oath in March that the emails are stored in servers and would be produced to lawmakers as part of the investigation into the IRS targeting of conservative tea party groups.

Koskinen was also issued a subpoena by the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee Darrell Issa earlier this week and is expected to testify again on Monday, June 23.
