WaPo Writer: Trump's Physical Did Not 'Rule Out' Mental Issues

The press spent an hour grilling President Trump's doctor about the physical examination he had completed last week at Walter Reed Medical Center during Tuesday's White House press briefing. After dozens of questions about the president's diet, exercise, mental health, cardiac health, blood pressure, cholesterol, and even his colon, Rear Admiral Dr. Ronny Jackson said that the 45th president is in excellent health. Sure, he wants to lose about 15-20 pounds, but he's plenty fit for the daily duties of the office.

The in depth diagnosis still wasn't good enough for the media.

CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta shared his own analysis Wednesday. According to the data, Gupta said, Trump most certainly has heart disease.

Other pundits were not convinced about Trump's mental capacity.

Jennifer Rubin, who is billed as The Washington Post's conservative voice, doubted Jackson's tests. Is he sure he ruled out everything in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders?

"He has gone above and beyond to demonstrate his cognitive abilities," Jackson told the White House press corps Tuesday. "The president is mentally very sharp, very intact."

On Fox News Wednesday, Dr. Marc Siegel said that tests do not do it justice. The way for a doctor to diagnose one's psyche is to spend time with the patient, which Jackson did with Trump.

It's a real "disservice" to people who actually have mental health issues for the press to keep insisting Trump does not have all his mental faculties, Siegel said.
