New Poll Has Trump Up Seven In Iowa

Republican nominee Donald Trump has pulled ahead with the lead in Iowa and now leads Hillary Clinton by seven points, according to the newest Des Moines Register poll

The poll, which is dubbed the "gold standard" of Iowa polling, is the largest Trump lead in the Hawkeye State since mid-September.

It goes without saying that this is an intriguing poll result. Iowa, and its six electoral college votes, has been considered a toss-up state this election cycle, and most of the past polls from the last month showed Trump with a very slim lead. Barack Obama won Iowa in both 2008 and 2012, and George W. Bush won Iowa by about 10,000 votes in 2004. A seven-point lead this close to Election Day is enormous, and must be a relief for the Trump camp.
