Maine Gov: America Needs Donald Trump Because He's An Authoritarian

Maine Gov. Paul LePage, who is no stranger to controversy, defended Donald Trump on Tuesday on a radio station, saying that perhaps the country could benefit from having an authoritarian leader.

"Sometimes, I wonder that our Constitution is not only broken, but we need a Donald Trump to show some authoritarian power in our country and bring back the rule of law because we've had eight years of a president, he's an autocrat, he just does it on his own, he ignores Congress and every single day, we're slipping into anarchy."

These weren't the only controversial comments to come from the interview. LePage was also critical of the Affordable Care Act and Maine Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME). LePage referred to himself as "not a fan" of Collins due to her refusal to vote for Donald Trump. Collins has represented Maine in the Senate since 1997.

“I am not Condoleezza Rice fan, I am not a Susan Collins fan. That’s not the kind of Republican I am. I am from the Grand Old Party, I am from the party of Ronald Reagan,” LePage said on the Maine radio station WVOM. “That is different than the people that claim to be Republicans that are shooting their mouths off.”
