WATCH: Judge Jeanine Presses Trump: Why Not Declare a National Emergency on the Southern Border?

President Donald Trump called into Judge Jeanine Pirro's show on Saturday night to discuss the status of the government shutdown and the crisis at the border. Pirro made a point to repeatedly ask President Trump why he hasn't declared a national emergency in order to build the wall if Democrats aren't willing to compromise with him.

"Given that they [the Democrats] don't seem to want to come to the table, that you have done all of the negotiating, why not declare a –" Pirro began to ask President Trump.

"That might happen," Trump responded, referring to a national emergency declaration. "I want to give them a chance to see if they can act responsibly. They should act responsibly. We're talking about the border and I have to say, a lot of the people that aren't getting their checks, are letting us know, 'We don't care. You've got to solve the crisis at the border.' It's a humanitarian crisis and it's national security. It's very important."

President Trump has been continually criticized for making swift decisions that often times appear to come out of left field. Democrats are quick to say he makes decisions on a whim. In this instance, even his adversaries have to give him credit. He's taken a stand. He hasn't backed down. And he's waiting patiently for the Democrats to make a move, even if their move is to do absolutely nothing at all.

Judge Jeanine brought up a great point though: if the Democrats are refusing to give even an inch, then how long does he wait before he admits they're not going to come to the bargaining table? We're three weeks in. How many more weeks or even months would we have to wait before Trump decides to pull the trigger on a national emergency?
