In honor of Star Wars Day, the Russian Embassy in the U.K. decided to send out this cheeky tweet.
Come to our side – follow us on twitter on #StarWarsDay pic.twitter.com/zAuPQRFMi7
— Russian Embassy, UK (@RussianEmbassy) May 4, 2017
That’s right. The Russian Embassy essentially just admitted that they’re on the Dark Side. In fact, they seem rather proud of it.
The not-so-subtle tweet definitely took some Twitter users by surprise.
Wait, this is a Verified account. Is the Russian Embassy REALLY being so blatant about being the Dark Side? ?? https://t.co/wCLJ6lAmxQ

The Russian Embassy is asking people to come over to the dark side for #StarWarsDay. Umm...at least they're honest? https://t.co/8RMRlMlBOR

Others were quick to point out just how spot on it was.
The Russian Embassy's May the 4th tweet is *extremely* on-brand https://t.co/S6BNIhbbu9

Unfortunately for the Embassy, a picture of Darth Vader taking a selfie with corpses in the background wasn’t enough to convince the world to make the switch. Go figure.

@RussianEmbassy A rare moment of candid self-awareness for the #Putin régime.

Still not worth a follow.#russia #starwarsday #evilhttps://t.co/i55KKhZM0E
@RussianEmbassy Nothing like out and out admitting you ARE the dark side. I follow you like I follow tornado warnings on my weather app. #the4thiswithUS

And let's not forget...@RussianEmbassy You mean the side that kills civilians in Syria? No thanks.

@RussianEmbassy We'd rather not choose the Dark side. The Dark side ALWAYS loses. #StarWarsDay pic.twitter.com/ONP21fY7D3
