Kevin Hart Is Out as Oscars Host Because...You Guessed It...Tweets.

And the Oscars hosting gig goes to...well, we're still waiting to see whose name is in the envelope.

Just a few days after comedian Kevin Hart excitedly announced that he was going to be the 2019 emcee of the Academy Awards, he has stepped down after some controversy.

In recent days media found some anti-gay tweets Hart sent in 2011 and it gave the Motion Picture Academy some pause.

"Yo if my son comes home & try's 2 play with my daughters doll house I'm going 2 break it over his head & say n my voice 'stop that's gay,'" he wrote at the time.

A year before that he wrote that someone's profile picture looks, "like a gay bill board for AIDS."

Social media users and fellow celebrities criticized Hart and hoped he had changed his way of thinking. The Academy piped up too, telling Hart to apologize or lose his hosting opportunity.

Hart's refusal to meet the Academy's demand came with a message about political correctness.

"I swear, man, our world is becoming beyond crazy," he said in an Instagram video. "I'm not going to let the craziness frustrate me or anger me, especially when I worked hard to get to the mental space that I am at now."

It became official not long after that.

Other Hollywood titans have recently been shunned because of years old tweets. Former Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn was fired from the third installment of Guardians because a decade ago he joked about rape and child pedophilia. The Guardians cast were not fans of that decision and told the movie studios that Gunn deserved another chance.
