Disney Drops 'Mandalorian' Actress Gina Carano for 'Abhorrent' Post

Wednesday marked a strange day for fans of Disney Plus’ "The Mandalorian," as actress Gina Carano was fired as a result of an Instagram post concerning the treatment of Jews in Nazis Germany.

A fan favorite, the actress portrayed the soldier Cara Dune in both widely successful seasons of Lucasfilm’s live action Star Wars TV production. Carano enjoyed a successful career in professional fighting before making a gradual transition into acting, where she has become the target of much criticism over her anti-woke beliefs and social media posts.

In the Instagram post that led to her termination, Carano dwelled on the social climate that produced the Nazis party and the mass genocide of Jews, ultimately comparing the hate Nazis had for Jews to the hate currently found within the American political system.

"Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors... even by children... Because history is edited, most people today don't realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?"

The hashtag #FireGinaCarano began circulating during the day Wednesday and by the time the actress deleted her post, the perceived damage was done.

Carano was dropped by her talent agency, UTA, and a spokesperson from Lucasfilm offered, "Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future," going on to justify their decision, saying of Carano’s post, "her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."

In recent years, Carano has repeatedly found herself at the center of mainstream harassment for her political opinions. In November, a tweet on election security caused a similar uproar.

“We need to clean up the election process so we are not left feeling the way we do today... Put laws in place that protect us against voter fraud. Investigate every state. Film the counting. Flush out the fake votes. Require ID. Make Voter Fraud end in 2020. Fix the system.”

All policy prescriptions generally supported by those on the right.
