Recently fired former Deputy F.B.I Director Andrew McCabe has been drawing lots of support of late - from all the wrong places. Like a “We are the world” rendition sung by a hooded, hand-holding cabal of Satanists, ‘Deep State’ operatives, politicians, and media figures all united over the weekend to support the man who, since he WAS fired by the Trump administration after all, must surely merit the designation as the latest and greatest ‘chosen’ hero of the #Resistance.
Nevermind the fact that McCabe was a partisan hack and a habitual leaker, this career government employee’s thinly veiled agenda to undermine President Trump at every turn virtually defined the moniker ‘Deep State,’ so naturally the ‘Deep State’ was less than happy at the sweet commucupance he received at the hands of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who removed him just hours before he was set to retire on a fat government pension.
And just like the Nazgul in Lord of the Rings, which for all their shrieking shrieked the loudest when they were injured, so did all the “usual suspects” shriek at McCabe’s firing.
For all of us longing for the ‘Deep State’s demise, it was a glorious thing to behold.
Mr. “torture and rendition” himself, former C.I.A. Director John Brennan, a man who apparently thinks he’s some sort of moral arbiter (always be careful, by the way, when liberals start talking about “morals” and stuff), kicked off the histrionics with an ominous Saturday morning tweet calling President Trump a "disgraced demagogue" who will eventually land "in the dustbin of history."
“When the full extent of your venality, moral turpitude, and political corruption becomes known, you will take your rightful place as a disgraced demagogue in the dustbin of history,” Brennan bleated, er, tweeted. “You may scapegoat Andy McCabe, but you will not destroy America...America will triumph over you.”

So, we’ll give Brennan an A-minus for “best John Milton impression,” not to mention some pretty top-notch alliteration, but he gets a D for his over-the-top manufactured hysteria. Hell, even Adam “Russia! Russia! Russia!” Schiff halfway admitted McCabe’s firing may have been justified, though of course he still thinks the action has an “odious taint,” because Trump.
Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power took the whole ‘wise sage’ approach by posting a tweet relating an African proverb to McCabe’s firing — “The axe forgets; the tree remembers.” Yeah, we remember, Samantha. We remember that time you used the unmasking process like it was your own personal search engine - but I digress.
Former Obama-era Attorney General Eric Holder called the decision to fire McCabe “dangerous” and the timing “cruel.”
Former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, an Obama appointee, called the president’s Friday night tweet lauding McCabe’s firing “lawsuit Exhibit A,” but not before telling President Trump to “butt out” and calling Jeff Sessions the “weakest and most craven Attorney General in modern times.”
The establishment media was fit to be tied. MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace called the firing a “complete disgrace,” while Rachel Maddow launched a wild conspiracy theory about the president supposedly trying to “discredit” McCabe as a “corroborating witness for Comey’s account of his firing.” According to Maddow, the “invective and taunting” of McCabe and Comey by Trump is meant to “make sure McCabe will be seen as having good reason to hold a grudge vs POTUS.”
Politicians got in on the act as well. New Jersey Rep. Bill Pascrell called McCabe’s firing a “disgrace to this country and our law enforcement community.”With a flair for the dramatic, California Rep. Eric Swalwell portended a “storm gathering” that would “wipe out” the president and his “corrupt organization all the way down to the studs.”
Sounds serious.
Arizona RINO Senator Jeff Flake, as if anyone cares what he thinks, called the firing “a horrible day for democracy,” because firing poor performers who may have violated the law is somehow a bad thing, at least when President Trump is involved.
What’s more, no less than four Democratic lawmakers, including Illinois Rep. Luis Gutierrez, are lining up to hire McCabe for the federal job that they think could get him over the retirement hump. All to support a man who, notwithstanding the misdeeds that got him canned in the first place, intended to “take people down with him if he was fired,” according to Fox News Senior Correspondent Adam Housley.
Yeah, it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
It’s not so much McCabe’s loss at the F.B.I. that’s got these folks all hot and bothered, because he was retiring anyway, but rather the fact that President Trump indeed has the Constitutional power to hire and fire at will and can and is using that power to purge the ‘Deep State.’ And while they are clearly circling the wagons and protesting an indignity suffered by one of their own, President Trump can take solace in the fact that, were he not so directly over the target, he wouldn’t be taking so much flak.
