From everything I read, the Republican battle for the Presidential nomination is finished. Donald Trump will be the nominee. I am in Thailand, of course, so I have no personal “feel” for what is happening in America, but from news sources, it’s over. News sources aren’t always—maybe never—to be trusted, but it does seem the Republican Party media and heads are lining up behind Trump. At least those who are speaking out.
I didn’t watch the second Republican debate. I couldn’t get it live in Thailand, but could have seen it later on YouTube. I was going to watch it but—from what I read—it wasn’t worth the time. And again, right now, it seems to be moot anyway. Trump’s lead is so massive he might be impossible to catch. Ron DeSantis is the only one who can do it, but—from what I read—he isn’t moving in any direction but south. The other candidates have no chance. Nikki Haley is campaigning for Vice-President, and I think she has a good chance of getting it. Because of her stances on climate change, Ukraine, Disney, etc., she is far from my first choice—or one-hundredth—but Trump might select her. She has popularity among RINOs and Trump does need their support.
Of course, the first primary isn’t until January, three and a half months from now. A lot could happen, so it isn’t decided yet by any means. But as I write this (on October 2), the nomination belongs to Trump. The Democratic media is pushing this, too. They want him because they don’t think he can win the general election next year. The indictments against Trump are for one reason: not to prevent him from running, but to anger the Republican base into lining up behind him. I’ve believed that all along and still do. And it is a strategy that seems to be working magnificently. The Democrats know how to win elections. Republicans haven’t the vaguest idea how to do so. Witness Ronna McDaniel.

Trump will lose the general election next November. The country, barring an incredibly disastrous lightning strike and overwhelming fear, will not return to him. The Democrats will probably do the intelligent thing and dump Biden. Trump’s only chance of winning would be to run against Biden; the Democrats know that, so they will remove Biden from the race.
Gavin Newsom will likely end up being the nominee. He said recently that he wasn’t going to run, but, like every Leftist, he lies when it suits him. That is an accepted part of their moral code—the end justifies any means. Even though Newsom has turned California into a stinking sewer, that is exactly what Democrats want for the whole country, so they will have no problem nominating him. He has good looks and a silver tongue, so the infatuated and illiterate will go for him. Trump will viciously, and personally, attack Newsom, of course, because that is what Trump does, and that will only build sympathy for the Californian. Newsom, like every Democrat, will play the “innocent victim” to gain all that sympathy he can get. It looks very much like Gavin Newsom could be America’s next President. Which means, of course, the continued rapid decline and fall of the United States. And don’t tell me that a country that elected Barack Obama (twice) and allowed Joe Biden to become President won’t put Gavin Newsom in the Oval Office. It appears there are absolutely no depths now to which America cannot descend.
If I sound a little disgusted in this column, it’s because I’m a lot disgusted. While I support Donald Trump’s stated policies (most of them), he has completely turned me off as a human being. I despise arrogant, narcissistic egotism—which means I despise most politicians—and Trump has that self-love stretched to the max. I’m finally sick of him. I want a good, virtuous man in the White House, a true, courageous, MORAL leader. The country has no hope with its current dishonorable, degenerate leadership. Plus, I think Trump hasn’t a prayer of winning the Presidency next year. The American people will not re-elect him. But he can’t, and won’t, see that, and apparently too many “normal” Republicans can’t, either. America is just in a very, very low state right now and it is not at all evident when, if ever, it can rise out of it.
Given the size and wealth of America, it is difficult to predict the country’s eventual essence. Since the Democrats are escorting millions of primitive illegals into the country who will continue to drain hard-working taxpayers’ dollars by creating more crime and welfare recipients, and (for those who do work) depressing wages by taking jobs at lower salaries, what seems to be inevitable is a drastic widening of the economic gap—the “rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer” thing. This will produce the elite the Democrats want and will control. Shoving people into poverty is an excellent way to control them politically. Every communist country can tell you that. It appears to be the direction America is heading. Couple that with the continued encouragement of moral degeneration by godless, debauched, Leftist atheists, and bigger and bigger government will become necessary and inevitable. If the rest of us submit, we will lose our freedom. Freedom isn’t doing something because somebody else allows you to do it. That isn’t freedom, that is slavery. That is China. That is what America is becoming.
“A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has [first] destroyed itself from within”—historian Will Durant. Why Americans can’t see that, I do not know. At the moment, the clouds on America’s horizon are very dark, indeed. But there is hope as long as there is a future. It’s up to us to save our country if it is going to be saved. We are America’s hope.
