Welcome back to "Stream of Kurtiousness!" Texas is gerrymandering their state in a politically savvy move. But now a liberal court voted 2-1, saying they can't redistrict because Texas is drawing its districts based on race. There's no truth to this whatsoever, and I believe it will get thrown out in court. Both Texas and California have the constitutional right to redistrict the way they see fit. The Texas judge who disagreed with his judge colleagues, who thought Texas's redistricting was unconstitutional, went thermonuclear on them in a written statement. I agree with everything he wrote, but I don't think his statement will play well in the court of public opinion. At the end of the day, gerrymandering is a political move, and states always have the right to do it!
