Democrat Spending Policies Fail Pennsylvania Families

We need more people in Washington, D.C., with common sense business experience who actually know how the economy works.

We are now all too familiar with the results of economic ignorance. Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer have shown us that they have no interest in governing responsibly - they only care about ramming a partisan agenda through Congress.

And who will pay the steepest price for these policies? Pennsylvania families.

Despite Biden’s promise not to raise taxes on working families, his reckless spending has led to runaway inflation. Whether you are buying milk for your family, filling-up your gas tank, or trying to replace a broken washer, you are paying more and keeping less of your hard-earned money. Inflation has risen at the fastest rate in 30 years - unfortunately, this isn’t the only tax that Biden and Democrats in D.C. are threatening Pennsylvanians with.

Congressional Democrats’ latest reckless tax-and-spending proposal would be a nightmare for all Americans who care about building a better life for their children and grandchildren. In attempting to pass this transformational and radical reconciliation bill, Democrats are working to create a pathway to socialism.

Hidden inside the 2,500-page bill are decades of previously-rejected progressive policy dreams. For example, the Democrats’ bill makes a down payment on the Green New Deal by allocating billions of taxpayer dollars to “equity” and “climate justice.” The social spending line items will only exacerbate the harmful effects of inflation that Americans are feeling at the gas pump, at the grocery store, and in the cost of housing.

In his own words, President Joe Biden hopes to “fundamentally [change] the structure and the nature of the economy.”

Who pays for that fundamental change? Pennsylvania’s working families.

Working families will be forced to foot the bill for Biden’s spending bill, while already feeling the effects of record inflation created by the administration’s previous reckless spending. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claims that the bill costs “0 dollars,” but anyone with common sense knows that nothing is free. Notwithstanding Biden, Schumer, and Pelosi’s spin, it will be everyday Americans who will be subject to the most significant tax hike in decades in order to fund the Democrats’ spending spree.

Biden vowed to not raise taxes on families earning less than $400,000 annually, but the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation found that his spending bill will do just that. Promises made, promises broken.

While Democrats look to pass their un-American spending priorities, Democratic leadership also spent the last few weeks gambling with the debt-limit, marking yet another crisis of their own creation. Schumer had the ability to pass an extension of the debt ceiling, but instead chose not to do his job, in favor of pursuing “transformational” spending bills.

This bill, aimed at “building back better,” is so dangerous that Schumer cannot even garner support from his entire caucus. Congress should reject the president’s irresponsible and reckless spending spree; a bender that the Democrats seek to fund with the money that our children and grandchildren have not yet even earned.

We need leaders in Washington with common sense business experience. Leaders who will fight back against extreme proposals that come at the expense of Pennsylvania families. Pennsylvanians deserve better than what Congressional Democrats are offering. I will fight for common sense policies that will ensure economic opportunity for all Pennsylvanians throughout this campaign and, more importantly, if and when I have the privilege to serve you in the United States Senate.
