Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis airlifted 50 Venezuelan illegals to the exclusive island paradise of Martha’s Vineyard. A conservative guest on Tucker Carlson Tonight accused the residents of Martha’s Vineyard of racism on the grounds that they don’t want a group of 50 “brown people” in their community. “If this had been 50 white Ukrainians,” said Spectator USA columnist Chadwick Moore, “they would have thrown together a parade. They’re fundamentally racist.”
“They don’t want people who don’t look like them in the middle of their vacation homes,” Moore said. “Can you imagine the optics if they put 50 Ukrainians over to a military base? But they don’t care if they’re doing it to the brown people from Venezuela. It reveals exactly who they are.”
Is Moore correct? When you reject an influx of illegal immigrants into your community, does that automatically make you a racist? I usually agree with Moore’s views, but in this instance he has missed the mark. When a community rejects the sudden, unapproved invasion by large numbers of illegals, it has nothing to do with racism. It has to do with the consequences of forcing a city or town to accept immigrants when there is no existing infrastructure for supporting and assimilating large numbers of people who are mostly unskilled and who don’t speak our language.
The same problem occurred when small towns in Germany were forced to accept a thousand or more middle eastern immigrants. The towns were virtually destroyed by the resulting crime and economic disruption. The U.S. refuses to learn from the European experience. Blaming it on racism is the easy way out.
Tucker Carlson described the current situation perfectly on September 16th. “It doesn’t matter how disruptive these new people are,” said Carlson. “It’s irrelevant how much they cost to support or how dramatically your quality of life may decline after they arrive. It doesn’t matter if the crime rate spikes, if your daughter is afraid to go outside, if the schools become unusable, if the hospitals fall apart. It doesn’t matter. You never complain. If you do, you’re a dangerous racist.”

Carlson is, of course, being facetious, but he gets the point across. Wanting to avoid the destruction of your community is not racism, it is common sense. Unfortunately, Biden’s immigration policy is the opposite of common sense. The Democrats support this insane policy because they believe that the millions of illegals pouring across the southern border will vote Democratic. Their motivation is based on political considerations, not compassion.
To deflect attention from its illegal and destructive policy, the White House has accused DeSantis of playing political games by shipping the Venezuelans to Martha’s Vineyard. “Migrants deserve better than being left on the streets of DC or being left in Martha’s Vineyard,” said White House mouthpiece Karine Jean-Pierre.
Biden is supported by filmmaker Ken Burns, who compares DeSantis’ action to the holocaust. “This comes right out of the authoritarian playbook,” said Burns. “This is what is so disturbing about DeSantis—to weaponize human beings for a political purpose.”
Former Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany exposed the hypocrisy of Jean-Pierre and Burns. “Where was the outrage,” asked McEnany, “when the Biden White House sent planeloads of migrants in the dead of night to a suburb north of New York City?”
Biden’s open border policy weaponizes millions of unfortunate human beings for a political purpose. We are not doing America a favor by accepting an avalanche of new residents who are unable to support themselves. We are not doing millions of aliens a favor by exposing them to the horrors they must endure as they trek through Mexico and attempt to infiltrate our border.
The Biden administration is perpetrating a massive outrage. Hordes of unvetted immigrants are streaming into the country and being shipped to secret destinations in violation of U.S. immigration law. With the aid of Democrat-controlled media, the American public has been kept completely in the dark.
The “bleeding heart” liberal position on immigration, endorsed by the Democrats, is that ANYONE who wants to come to the U.S. should be allowed to do so. In other words, the Left believes we have an obligation—based on “compassion”—to admit non-citizens who are suffering in “sh*thole” countries. Who are we kidding? Most of the world is made up of sh*thole countries. The residents of those countries would be crazy not to want to live in the U.S. But with open borders, it will be impossible to accommodate the resulting tidal wave of immigrants. The economic and social costs of such a policy will tear us apart.
The economic toll will destroy the U.S. economy and cost an untold number of jobs. The extent of disruption in local communities will be catastrophic. The social costs of deadly drugs, violent criminals, terrorists, and COVID spreaders constitute the worst public safety issue since World War II.
We already have more immigrants than any other country in the world. We can’t assimilate the 20 million or more illegals that have already smuggled themselves into the country. Try to imagine what would happen if we take in another 20 million. We cannot afford to admit everyone who wants to come, nor is our government under any legal or moral obligation to satisfy the desires of the entire planet.
How will you cope when Biden in secret ships a few thousand unskilled, functional illiterates—and the surge in crime and disease that comes with them—to your town? Will you let them call you a racist or will you stand up for common sense?
