That Three O’clock Phone Call

During the 2008 campaign for the Democratic nomination for president, Hillary Clinton famously ran a campaign ad claiming to be the one who was ready to “answer that phone call at three o’clock in the morning”.

What she based this on we’re not sure, since her career up to that point had consisted of a position as a 27-year-old staffer with the committee investigating the Nixon Watergate scandal that she was fired from for dishonesty and questionable ethics, a job with an Arkansas law firm which she was given based on her political connections (i.e. her husband the governor), and presumably her one term in the U.S. Senate where her legislative and national security accomplishments were nil.

Since no one can really come up with any accomplishments during her tenure as Secretary of State, which wouldn’t count anyway because she hadn’t held that cabinet post until after Barack Obama was elected, it’s really a curiosity why she claimed she could be a ‘steady hand at the helm of the ship of state’ in her 2008 campaign ad.

As we approach the 2016 campaign season it appears more and more likely that Hillary Clinton will be announcing her candidacy once again for the Democratic nomination for president. An office she has reportedly coveted since her college days decades ago.

With little opposition or detractors from her own party and along with an adoring news media which will most certainly support her effort, Hillary Clinton at this point does appear to be a shoe-in for the Democrat Party’s nomination for president in 2016.

Which could be the reason why she and her Democrat supporters on the Select Committee on Benghazi are so desperate to prevent the truth from coming out about that tragedy, and about Hillary Clinton’s very UN-steady hand at the helm when that phone call came in during the early afternoon.

An afternoon phone call at a time of day when one would suspect she was wide awake and fully engaged and ready to take strong action in response to the attacks in Benghazi. As opposed to the middle of the night when perhaps she could claim she was only ‘half-asleep at the wheel’.

Four brave Americans died including the U.S. ambassador after the U.S. Consulate was attacked and ransacked by Islamic, yes ISLAMIC terrorists on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States. Americans did not die that day as a result of any video as was ridiculously claimed by the Obama Administration’s water-carrier Susan Rice.

What we know is that Barack Obama left his office for his private residence in the White House after being briefed on the situation in Libya around five o’clock that afternoon. We don’t really know anything more than that. We don’t know that he was in constant contact with his national security team or that he was actively engaged in responding to the attacks and trying to save the lives of the Americans on the ground in Benghazi. We have no clue exactly what part Barack Obama played on the fateful day. Nobody’s talking about it.

During her previous Congressional testimony Hillary Clinton rhetorically asked “what difference does it make” as she played to the TV cameras and pounded her fists on the table in front of her, a well-rehearsed act presumably done for a more dramatic visual presentation. Hillary the tough gal.

It’s a mystery why the Academy for Motion Picture Arts and Sciences overlooked this performance during their nomination process, since it was certainly worthy of an Oscar. For crying out loud they gave Al Gore an Oscar for his fantasy film ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ !

The fact that four Americans tragically died on her watch mattered little to Hillary and presumably her husband Bill who is desperate to be relevant again, as well as to her numerous supporters in and out of government who are also desperate to get Hillary elected as president.

In spite of all the lies, obfuscation, and cover up, should the truth finally be revealed during the Select committee’s investigation into Benghazi in all likelihood it will present an unflattering but highly accurate picture of Hillary Clinton. A portrait of someone as incompetent as the president she recently served and obsessed with seeking the power of the presidency for herself. And certainly NOT a steady hand at the helm of the ship of state.

What the nation will need after eight years of Barack Obama is a grown-up’s hand picking up that telephone at three o’clock in the morning. Not the hand of a scheming, spiteful, conniving and power obsessed individual with no ethics or integrity, and apparently not much of a conscience either.

We’ve had far too much of that over the course of the last two Democrat administrations.
