Reporting on the Mirror – SPORTS ILLUSTRATED

It has been a brutal year for the long-running sports publication. It featured a trans model on the cover of its swimsuit issue, the site was caught using AI-generated content in November, and that led to most of its top executives being fired last month.

Now, we get the news today that the publisher, The Arena Group, had its license pulled due to lack of payment and, as a result, has let go almost its entire staff.

Pulitzer Prize Nomination (Sports Reporting) – NFL

  • Has the team been prepared properly for the climate-controlled conditions?

In a moment that had just about every other reporter in the room squeezing their eyes in reaction to the cringe-awkwardness, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles fielded a question from an unnamed local affiliate reporter. He was asked about preparing his team for the brutal winter conditions in Detroit for his team's playoff game, and Bowles is seen controlling his reaction as he calmly explained to the reporter that the game is played inside of a dome, so there was no need for him to make special preparations.

It has been explained this may have arisen as a result of the local station gutting its sports department and possibly sending out an inexperienced stringer to the press conference, but when you listen to the ponderous, grandstanding length of the question, there really is little excuse for this kind of fumble.

Presentation Paradox – CBS NEWS

  • Look, it's Trump speaking – the details are of little merit, he is always wrong.

We need to repeat – the press hates the delivery of misinformation! That is, according to the press that looks only to the right. When THEY deliver it, this is not considered a problem. When they deliver misinformation while accusing others of misinformation, well, things are simply a clown show.

At CBS News, they are covering the runup to the New Hampshire Primary, and in a recent speech, we are told Donald Trump delivered fake news when he claimed Democrats in the state were looking to infiltrate the primary with bad faith voters switching their registration. Reporter Jacob Rosen calls Trump's comments "baseless," "falsehoods," "unfounded claims" and "misinformation."

Then, it actually acknowledged that…well, yeah, a number of voters did change their registrations:

3,542 voters changed their registration from Democrat to undeclared before the state's Oct. 6 deadline, and just 408 Democrats changed their registration to Republican.

This theme of "accurate lies" is sure to be repeated in the coming months.

Pre-Written Field Reports – NBC NIGHTLY NEWS

  • Expecting something in the way of evidence was probably an error on our part.

On his network broadcast, Lester Holt introduced a segment where reporter Tom Llamas spoke with the three victims of a shooting that took place in Vermont last November. They are permitted to make all manner of claims about the incident, and there is nothing to be seen in the way of investigations into the claims.

The three stated they had been ambushed – despite the shooter being on his own property. Then it is said they were targeted specifically for being Palestinian, but the man arrested for the shooting has a history of pro-Palestinian content on social media. These being details that do not align with the narrative, they were conveniently not brought up at all in the report.

Gilded Reframe – CNN

Somebody needs to reach out to John Avlon and update him on a few things. Namely, that there is no problem at the Southern border. Also, he may need to be hipped to the fact that Joe Biden is the president.

John writes that there is a crisis going on with our border – something that may come as a surprise to the many members of the press insisting this has not been the case for years. But even as Mr. Avlon shows some growth on the topic, he appears a bit distracted: He cites that the Republicans need to address the issue, with a need to address it with Donald Trump's intentions in mind.
